Swirled Tahini Cups are a gourmet candy that combines the richness of dark chocolate with the creamy, slightly nutty flavor of tahini. These simple yet decadent treats come together quickly and are easy to make without any special skills. Perfect for a sweet snack or dessert, they offer a unique twist on the traditional chocolate peanut butter cup.

Full Recipe:

Ingredients

  • ½ cup (125 ml) tahini

  • 3 tbsp coconut oil, melted

  • 3 tbsp maple syrup (or sweetener of your choice)

  • 2 tbsp rice flour, sifted

  • 9 oz (250g) dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa), roughly chopped

  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds, toasted (plus extra to sprinkle)

Directions

  1. Prepare the Tahini Mixture: In a bowl, stir together the tahini, coconut oil, maple syrup, and rice flour. Mix until combined. Transfer the mixture to a piping bag and refrigerate to firm up slightly.

  2. Melt the Chocolate: Create a double boiler by placing a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of gently simmering water. Add two-thirds of the chopped chocolate to the bowl and melt, stirring occasionally. Once melted, remove the bowl from the heat and stir in the remaining chocolate until smooth.

  3. Assemble the Cups: Place 18 mini muffin cups on a tray. Sprinkle a small amount of sesame seeds into each cup. Fill each cup halfway with the melted chocolate. Take the tahini-filled piping bag from the fridge and gently squeeze the tahini mixture into the middle of the chocolate in each cup. Use a skewer to swirl the tahini into the chocolate. Repeat with the remaining cups. Sprinkle extra sesame seeds on top.

  4. Set and Serve: Refrigerate or freeze the cups until firm. They will keep for up to a week in the fridge or a month in the freezer. If frozen, let them sit for 10 minutes before serving.
