If you’re looking for a quick and easy lunch or snack, this Microwave Grilled Cheese is the perfect solution! Ready in just 5 minutes, this gooey, melty sandwich is made with only 3 ingredients—bread, cheese, and butter. It’s a great option for busy days, dorm rooms, or offices, where you don’t have access to a stove or griddle. The microwave makes it easy to enjoy this classic comfort food without the hassle of pans or greasy stovetops.

Full Recipe:

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of sandwich bread (white, wheat, or your choice)

  • 2 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, or any preferred cheese)

  • 1 tablespoon butter (salted works best)

Directions

  1. Toast the bread: Toast the two slices of bread to your preferred doneness. I recommend toasting the bread one setting darker than usual to help maintain some crispiness after microwaving.

  2. Butter the bread: Once toasted, butter one side of each slice of bread.

  3. Assemble the sandwich: Place one slice of cheese on the unbuttered side of one bread slice. Top with the other slice of bread, buttered side facing out.

  4. Microwave: Place the sandwich on a microwave-safe plate and microwave on HIGH for 20-30 seconds, or until the cheese has melted and the sandwich is hot.

  5. Serve: Cut the sandwich diagonally, serve immediately, and enjoy the gooey cheese pull!
